Artist Statement

Nicole Kiabeth (she/her) is a self-taught painter born in Honduras, she currently lives and works in Long Beach. She uses watercolor and acrylic paints intuitively to create abstract works that focus on “unfamiliar” shapes, lively colors, and movement that suggest living things. Her inspiration comes from the beauty and interconnectedness of nature and the fluidity of human emotions. Nicole aims to create paintings that feel meditative in order to "prolong perception”, to be curious about our own personal beliefs and connection to the world.

Nicole’s art practice keeps her grounded and challenges her to step outside her comfort zone. Each time she tries a new medium it brings her closer to self and community.
